Metabolism
Our doctors do a lot of work in this arena, and few words sum up the extent of our practice as well as this one.
When we refer to “metabolism”, “metabolic health”, and/or “metabolic syndrome”, we are referring to the typical group of health conditions that includes:

-
High blood pressure (hypertension)
-
High blood sugar (pre-diabetes or diabetes) – usually type 2
-
Excess body fat around the abdomen/waist regions – overweight/obesity
-
Abnormal blood triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL levels – blood lipids
You may have all four of these together, or you may have only one or two. Everyone is unique.
The main goal here is to help you normalize your blood pressure, normalize your blood sugar (by re-sensitizing insulin), get and stay lean (low body fat %, higher fat-free muscle mass), and improve the levels of the good cholesterol while lowering triglycerides and oxidized cholesterol molecules.
Depending on the severity of the chronic illness, we check blood levels every 3 months (the earliest) to every 6 – 12 months.
